-- changing category of multiple files (in wordsmith) (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=13972)

Hi,

I have a large amount of files (98) that i am transferring from MS Word to wordsmith. when i do this, wordsmith drops them into the unfiled category. is there a way to change them all to a different category easily?

also, i could have sworn that when i tested wordsmith a while back that it added a "wordsmith" icon to my palm desktop software. now that i've purchased wordsmith and reinstalled, no such icon is there. was i imagining this?

thanks,

mc

I have yet to find a way to move multiple DOC's into different categories. However, you can select the W in front of the document name and then choose Category and make your move from there. This would allow you to move the document without having to open each one.

As for the Palm Desktop Icon. I first installed WS version 1.0 and had an icon on my Palm Desktop. I then installed version 1.1 and no icon on my Palm Desktop. I have now installed version 1.11C and still no icon, so I am assuming this is something they no longer provide. At first I thought I had a bad install or had lost my mind, glad to see I am not the only one.

Have you tried MassTransit? Although I haven't tried it yet, it's supposed to let you change category of multiple records in a single operation.

I don't recall an icon added to the Palm Desktop--it does put Wordsmith on the Microsoft Word toolbar.
