I just received my WIRED magazine, and was flipping through it when I saw a Handspring ad. It featured Star Trek book modules. On the side of the Module you could read the text "Book Set"; I'm assuming this would mean that there are several books on one module, which makes since.

Just my personal thought but these "books" will have to be REAL cheap for me to invest in them. If it turns out that there is only one book per module, I wouldn't pay more that $5 or so.

IMHO it would be better if they gave away a 4mb or 8mb module and then sold the books as downloads. THEN I would be willing to pay for them. ;-)


They also mentioned us as "...a loyal fan base..." :-) So they do read these posts!!!

At one time I read that the peanutpress.com ST:SB's would have about 5 or 6 novels on each ST:SB and would run around $20-$25 each. However, I could'nt find ANY info on the ST:SB's at the peanutpress.com site today! Why would they advertise in a magazine, and not on their own website?!

was actually browsing PEanutPress site today (as first visit there) and swear I saw some ST-TNG stories there...so there are some ST novels/stories there...suggest u go back for another look...unless u were seeking specific title and that was what u could not find?

I believe that LanMan was talking about Star Trek SpringBoards (hence the ST:SB).

Just looked on the peanutpress site and I couldn't find anything about any SBs either.

Sorry I didn't make myself clear. visor empowered is correct. I was kinda making a play on the whole ST:TNG thing with the SpringBoards, thus ST:SB. Sorry for the confusion, but I still can't find any ST:SB's.

I sent an e-missive to peanutpress.com last week and this is the reply that I received. So it sounds to me that the modules will be sold through the Handspring site and not the peanutpress.com site.

Anyone heard of any updates on the ST:SB's?

The the first ST:SB has made an appearance at PalmGear for Visor.

The module has 7 ST books on it and cost $45.50, or $6.50 per book. I thought that this was going to be a peanutpress.com product but it looks like it comes from Landware instead. However, for some reason Landware.com doesn't even show this in their Handspring product listing.

I think it's a little pricey if it doesn't have all of the ST books that I'm interested in. It does look like a great way to get an entire series of 3+ books, which is the direction that they are gearing this BookPak toward.

Take a look, and let us know what you think. Will you buy the ST BookPak?

Where did you come up with the '7 books' number? I looked at the site and it seems from the description that there are only 4 or 5 books included (which makes them even more expensive):

"This collection includes the Invasion Saga with a book from each of the four Star Trek realms and the Q Continuum."

At first, I was going to go ballistic about pricing. After all $11.25 a book is a bit pricey. Of course, it's about nine bucks a book if Q-Continuum #1 is included.

However, given that Peanutpress is selling them for $6.50 a book, that makes the springboard either $16 bucks after the price of the books or a pretty cheap $9.50, if there are 5 books.

Me, I think I'll stick to e-texts for a while. There's a whole lot of classic books that I haven't read that I can DL for free!

This description read that there are seven books. I assume that there are three "Q" books.

Anyone tried the Star Trek module yet? How many, and what books come on it?
