vfs/pidirect--what's the difference?

I'm using pidirect right now on my prism and it works like a charm. Now there's this thing called VFS. What's the difference? Isn't pidirect running the programs off the memplug too? Is there any reason to use the new VFS manager? Is it faster than pidirect?

Here is the defination of VFS manager in PalmOS programmer's manual.
quote:

The Virtual File System (VFS) Manager is a layer of software that
manages all installed file system libraries. It provides a unified API
to application developers while allowing them to seamlessly access
many different types of file systems Xsuch as VFAT, HFS, and
NFSXon many different types of media, including Compact Flash,
Memory Stick, and SmartMedia.

Your applications need to be VFS awared, to take the advantage of VFS support.

While PiDirect is a type of Vitual Memory Manager, it allow you to seamlessly to access applications and read only databases on card. Without required your program awared the present of external memory.

MemPlug provide both type of solution for our users, PiDirect and PiVFS Manager. For more details, please visit our product website.

Yes.
They can work togather.

In fact, many MemPlug users use both of them in their MemPlug.
