-- Visor dimensions? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=110)
Has anyone heard what the dimensions of the visor will be? (Particularly compared to the Palm III)
Thanks,
Miranda

Visors: 4.8" x 3.0" x 0.7", 5.4 oz

Palm III: 4.7" x 3.2" x 0.7, 6 oz

Palm V: 4.7" x 3.2" x 0.4", 4 oz

Hope this helps.

can anybody translate that to the (european) metric system?
T.I.A.
Been awhile since I had to do a US<>Metric conversion, but the numbers should be close:

* Visors: 12.2 cm x 7.6 cm x 1.8 cm, 151.2 g
* Palm III: 11.9 cm x 8.1 cm x 1.8 cm, 168 g
* Palm V: 11.9 cm x 8.1 cm x 1 cm, 112 g

simple conversion
a little longer,
a little thinner,
a little less wide.
also a little littler screen... all relative to a palm3

What are the actual screen dimensions? When I read the new dimensions I just assumed the case was smaller, not the actual screen size. Isn't it the same screen that 3Com uses?

I have de same question.
CNET says that Palm V has a diagonal Screen size of 4.1 in.; and Visor 3 in. !!!
It means 2.5 cm, isn't it a big difference?
ZDNET says that Palm V has a screen size of 2.4 by 2.4 in., and Visor as 2.1 by 2.1 in.
It means a difference of 1 cm in diagonal.
Can anyone tell more about this subject?
Thanks
According to reports in the press, the Visor's screen has been shaved slightly in physical dimensions from what the Palms have:
Visor physical screen size: 2.1" x 2.1" (5.3 cm x 5.3 cm)
Palm physical screen size: 2.4" x 2.4" (6.1 cm x 6.1 cm)
However, the pixel size of the screen is still the same as the Palm: 160 x 160. So though you're getting a (very slightly) smaller screen, compatibility is not an issue between the devices.

Adding to what Zippy said ...
The Visor uses the same LCD as the Palm V which is 2.1 x 2.1 (the other Palms use the 2.4 x 2.4 LCDs)

I believe the larger screen diameters can be accounted for when people measure the graffiti and button area with the screen instead of just the screen alone, which is always perfectly square by itself.
Eric, thanks for the addendum. I've been reading through the Palm specifications, and the one I was having trouble digging up was whether there was a difference in the physical screen size between the Palms.
It uses the same exact screen as the Palm V
