Edge Keyboard SUCCESS!

howdy,

i've successfully hooked up a targus stowaway keyboard to my visor edge! it works like a charm. i found out that i was using some connections that did not need to be there. i looked at the development articles from think outside and found that only 3 pins are used, not 5.

anyway, please goto my site at http://server41.hypermart.net/mikelfelix/ to see how it can be done. thanks to everyone who helped me during this process!

Nice work dude...makes me wish I hadn't sold my stowaway. The question now is whether to buy another and build the adapter, or hold out for the edge-specific keyboard. (If it ever comes, that is).

Anyway, any stability issues with the edge on the keyboard? Does it actually *lock* into place, or just kind of sit there?

Pictures (when you get your camera back) would be great.

Regards,
-Stimp.

Congrats!!! I'll be honest, I had a suspicion that it was possible to do just the way you did. What was it that was keeping it from working before?

It's that easy, and yet Think Outside can't devote a week or so to making it mass-produceable? How can they be so good at designing a keyboard and yet so bad at...

arg..

well, dang! This is really cool.. almost (almost) makes me wish I had hung on to my Edge. We eagerly await pictures!!

Congrats!!

howdy,

thanks so much! it is kinda fishy that targus has put this off for so long just because of a new serial connector. hmmm....

stimpy, here's the answer to your question:

the edge actually sits upright like the deluxe/platinum would. it's fairly stable, but you might want to add a vertical support to the back of the adapter to help it from tipping over. besides that, it's pretty bulletproof.

howdy,

just a quick question: i was asked by someone if i could make an adapter for them. i would be more than happy, but would like to know if there would be any interest in me making adapters / adapter cables for people (for bulk part ordering, etc) please respond if you got an interest.

I'd **definetly** be interested, but I'd like to see some pictures first. Specifically a few of what the final package (hand-made cable with the keyboard) looks like in use. I know what the stowaway looks like w/my wife's platinum.... it's a nice snug fit.

That's why I'd feel better seeing what I'd be getting. But if it looks cool, definetly I'd throw some cash for one!

Michaelfelix.... so where are those pictures you promised? How has the new creation been holding up? Have you used it much?

Another Possible Customer

I'd would also buy a keyboard adaptor if you constructed it for me. Frankly, I would try to build the thing myself if there were some pictures of each step on the website.

Talking

Since I have two thumbs, I would be glad to purchase an adapter,
If you build it they will come!
good job

Question Price?

What does anyone expect the apapter to cost if Michaelfelix were to sell it? Personally, I would say 32-38 U.S. Dollars would seem like a resonable price. $35 is a nice number
