I need to advise the readers of these message boards on the following:

I recently purchased a Handy GPS unit from Amazon.com. Even tough I read a large % of negative comments in this site I decided to purchase a unit because of the delay to the release date of the GEODE. I can tell you after a few days the following:

1.- Delivery from Amazon ON Time after I received the e-mail indicating that the order was shipped.

2.- Unit came in small package , similar in size to the GOOD MP3 player.

3.- I had some difficulty opening the battery cover, nothing really major.

4.- I followed the 5 minute rule indicated in the manual for satellite recognition.It picked up Four main satellites and two back up.

5.- I loaded all Northern California ( Bay Area )maps with no issue and the UBIGO software.

6.- Testing of Point of Interest, etc.worked with no problem.

7.- Route tracking also worked.

I can advise that my test went with really no problems. The software is pretty "barebone" but I think that overall is easy to operate and is reasonable when related to the cost.
