Has my Backup Module gone bad?

Tried to restore data from my Backup Module (after a hard reset) and part way thru the restore process got an error message. Did a couple f resets and restore attempts all with the same result. The module backs up with no errors just won't restore. Even did a hard hard reset and backup of the barebones Visor. Backup went fine but still got an error when attempting to restore. Should I just throw this backup module away? It's saved me many times, I hate being w/o a backup on the road.

try formating the module, and if you cant restore after a format, its trash

I thought about formating but don't know how. There isn't a menu option. Description, pointers, or tips?

i only have the flash mod and i know that has a format option.
