-- Backup? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=8403)
Unfortunately I was forced to do a hard reset over the weekend. I think it was because I was trying out liberty which requires overclocking. Anyways when I went to restore my device it put it back to the way it was MONTHS ago. It kind of pissed me of because I hotsynced every day and it said "backing up handheld database" every single time. But it really wasn't backing up anything? Is there something I'm not doing to restore my device? Did I do something to stop it from properly backing up?
The only thing I can think is that because I sync both at home and at work, it stopped backing up when I started to sync at work. I did another hard reset when I got to work this morning and my work computer restored the same months old backup.
What do I need to do to back up properly? Do I need a backup module (hogwash!) or is there some setting in palm desktop I need to change?

First of all, I would appreciate it if you would modify the signature section of your profile... there's no need for that here at VC.
Unfortunately, if you're using the default conduits to sync with the DeskTop software, I believe the only thing getting backed up is the data from the core apps along with the "Saved Preferences" (system) data. Third party apps/data are not backed up by default unless they have their own conduit or you're using a third party (free or commercial) backup solution.
I apologize for not being of more help here, but I've been using BackupBuddy since I've had my Visor and it automatically does all the backup functions, including automatically restoring after a hard reset. The Backup Module provides a similar solution.
There are also some free/shareware backup solutions... BackupALL and Backup Bitster are two that I've heard good things about.

This thread brings a question to mind. Is Palm's new release of the HotSync Manager compatible with the Visor or do we need to wait for Handspring to release their own "version" of the software?
