The VisorCentral incompatibility list is missing. Has anyone else found such a list? I've encountered a very nasty incompatibility that appears to be related to using the MagicText Hack. I'll be verifying this against my PIIIx tomorrow.

Attempted to do a Phone Lookup using Bozidar Benc's applet/plug-in and it caused a soft reset. Stuck at the Palm OS logo. Soft reset with up arrow (disable initialisation call). Removed DocsToGo since removal of it had worked previously. No dice. Reset still sticks on Palm OS logo unless I disable initialisation call.

Went into HackMaster 0.91 version -- the one that is compatible with hacks in flash memory. I realise the VDX doesn't have flash memory, but that shouldn't necessarily cause any problems, but because I can't hotsync using the USB cradle (see the USB Hotsync topic), I can't try 0.90 until at least tomorrow. Attempt to 'uninstall all' (even though none of the hacks are actually installed, since the reinitialisation sequence was stalled, they showed up 'installed' or checked) and get a memory chunk under-locked ... requiring a reset.

Needless to say, I'm baffled.

I had the same exact issues. I am using version .90 of hackmaster. My fix was to delete hackmaster from menu, delete, hackmaster from the applications menu.

reinstall it using your USB by making this fix:

[NOTE: YOU WILL NEED TO DO THE WARM RESET AFTER YOUR HOTSYNC TO GET PAST THE START UP SCREEN -PUSH RESET WHILE PUSHING UP SCROLL.]

(Via handsprings site)

USB cradle
If you try to synchronize Visor without installing the new Handspring version of the HotSync Manager, your computer can get into a state where it cannot properly locate some specific USB drivers. If your computer prompts you for the location of these system files, select the VISORUSB.SYS file located in the C:\WINDOWS\INF directory. To avoid this problem, be sure to first install the desktop software that comes on the CD-ROM included with Visor.

If HotSync Manager fails to connect, try removing other USB devices-even if they are connected to another USB port.

Then all should work! my phone lookup via magic text worked fine with no reset and i was given the option to check and uncheck my hacks with no "chunk error" or whatever it was -I saw this too.

e-mail me if still having problems
( i got my visor deluxe today but by backup module got backordered)

Good Luck!

It took me a long time, but it turns out that the QMate 1.5.2 is incompatible with the Visor, and that the QEntry program part of this package was locking up the restart of the Visor on soft reset.

I'll be submitting a bug report to the author in short order.
