-- StayOff hack that works for Prism? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=14851)
Is there a replacement for StayOff Hack we all loved on our VDx's for the Prism?
I need to turn off those 6 buttons REALLY bad.

Hmmm
I thought that StayOff hack work on all the Visor including the Prism. Have you tried it with X-Master?
Actually I wrote the developer after posting this, and I got a reply back that describes a problem on both sides, the hardware has a problem and so did his software. He has sent me out a beta to test that fixes the software issue and so far it works. The hardware issue precludes the "wake button" from working, so the program's only purpose is to keep the unit off now. Which is fine to me because that is all I used it for. I didn't use the wake stuff on it.
I'm gonna give it a run for a couple weeks and see how it goes.

I worked with the author as the Prism tester when he was developing the beta of which you speak. That was months ago and I've been running it without problems. I use it just like you do, to keep the PDA off. However, if you hold down the power button long enough for the contrast app to come on, the contrast app is what gets 'shut down' when the button is released and the PDA stays on. I was really worried about this at first, but in the months I've carried this thing around in my front pants pocket, I haven't had one 'unexplainable battery drain'.
I beta tested another hack called ButtonGuard. It works perfectly with the Prism. It doesn't offer StayOffHack's semi-secret security feature of having to hold down the page-up button while pressing the power button (which I loved on my Visor Deluxe), but since I only needed to disable the hardware buttons from turning on the Prism in a case, ButtonGuard is just what I needed. The Prism's power button is recessed, so with all other buttons disabled, I'm good to go. You can download ButtonGuard here, but the version he sent me to beta test, which is the one I've been using on the Prism was version 2.2. As I said, it works like a charm. If version 2.2 isn't available on his site, You can e-mail the developer (who, BTW, is also the author of FontHack123) at [email protected] to ask for the version which works on the Prism.
