-- Stowaway + Visor + Phone (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=11483)
I made a little contraption that allows me to use all of these at once to surf the internet. I'm pretty sure the software will allow me to use both the IR port and Serial port at the same time, but I'm not positive. I haven't been able to test it yet due to some problems connecting to the internet, but when I do I'll update this post.
All of these devices are fully usable physically with my cardboard contraption, and I hope to use this in the future to chat online without graffiti.
Here's the link to pictures:

I tried using my 8290 and Stowaway at the same time, but realized that the Stowaway rerouted the IR port. I'm pretty sure that's why I couldn't connect, though it could be that the IR ports didn't line up correctly.
i'm with you cptncelchu:
sadly, you can't do it with a platinum either... palm os3.5 apparently reroutes the serial connection to the ir port or vice versa or something, because you can't connect while connected to the stowaway. it's not an ir problem.
ah well...

It was worth a shot. Maybe my next Visor will have this capability, or some software will come out. Either way, I hope it happens soon!

That's a bummer. I guess I wouldn't be able to use my Psion land-line IR modem with the Stoway either.
The Springboard-based modem users have it made!

What is the Springboard slot considered? It's too bad the IR port couldn't be on some separate type of port like the SB (FYI - I know nothing about this type of hardware so if that didn't make any sense I apologize
).

Does anyone know if the IrDA/serial port restriction applies to the IR port of an OmniRemote? That could be a solution...
Omniremote module a no go.
It was a good idea, but I guess it isn't possible. I e-mailed pacificneotek and this is the response I got:

Sorry, the Springboard Module cannot be used for Palm beaming functions. It only works with OmniRemote.

I guess we're all stuck typing our e-mails and then connecting to send them. Though the reason I was looking for this solution was because I was tired of using graffiti for AIM :-) A cable connection (via Springboard) would work, though you might as well get a landline modem unless you need the ability for wireless.
