-- HS cases cracking mystery: solved? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=7625)

Red face

I've complained in other threads about the fact that my HS case is cracking my BVDx. Well, not long ago, I ran into a colleague with an IVDx. I told her of my problem. She showed me how her IVDx slipped easily in and out of her HS custom case with no cracking problem. I showed her how mine cracks a bit every time I pull it out of my case. She placed her IVDx in my case -- and it slipped out with great ease.
Mystery solved! My BVDx is a fraction of an inch larger than her IVDx! That's why it doesn't fit the case like it should.

Question: has anyone else with the cracking problem compared their VDx with another? I wonder if certain colors are larger, or, perhaps, certain batches emerged from a larger mold.

Any thoughts?

Question

Could be the same real sie but more pliable due to ice plastic properties vs. graphite

Both test subjects were colored visors with ice backs -- not graphite.

the only way to find out is to test some more units because this could just be a result of manufacturing tolerances. but who knows, handspring may have changed the dimensions just a bit to relieve some stress...
