EyeModule and direct upload...
Does anyone know if you can upload directly from your EyeModule(2) or your Handspring to the Internet. I am most interested in photos from the EyeModule but also files, etc.
Thanks.
You can FTP files via backupbuddy, which lets you specify which files to upload during a "sync". (You specify the server under Options > Settings).
There's another FTP client out there whose name escapes me, but it's somewhat limited in functionality and renames .PRC files to .PDB upon uploading, or some such... I tried it a while back and didn't find it very useful.
As for actually being able to do anything with Eyemodule databases once you've uploaded them somewhere, there's nothing out there that I know of. I'm working on a PHP class that will extract images from Eyemodule databases in a web environment, but it's slow going.
Why PHP? I know C would be preferable, as the resulting app would reach a larger audience and be more usable on the desktop, but I don't know nearly enough C to tackle the problem yet. I'm pretty handy with PHP, so that's the language it will be. Once the class is finished I'll add a web-based front end that lets you upload the Eyemodule PDB files, then view the images, extract them into a directory on the web server, etc. I'll be sure to post about it when I have more done!
It would be nice if Ideo would release a desktop utility for extracting EM images directly, without having to go through the conduit; I've seen numerous posts looking for alternate ways to get at Eyemodule images, especially with all the SmartMedia/Compact Flash adapters out these days.

I know for Alan's Visor Adventure, hes getting a custom BugMe Messenger app which will posts pics online. I believe they're going to release something like this to the public.

Uploading photos with BugMe! Messenger
Actually, you don't need a special version of BugMe! Messenger to do this...
The latest version of BugMe! Messenger (from http://bugme.net) will let you send eyemodule images to any email address, you can send either 'screen-sized' images or the full jpg - there are pro's and con's of each, with the jpeg's taking quite a while to send. That is the easy bit!
I have a script on my daughter's web site (at http://cerys.com) which lets me send a photo to a 'magic' email address. I then have a cron job that looks for messages sent to this address and automatically posts them to the web. Its very basic and crude, but does the job for me. That is the complex bit - it essentially uses procmail.
We have spoken about adding a 'photo album' capability to BugMe! Messenger whereby users could automatically post their photos (and handwritten 'stickies' too, incidentally) to a public web page on our server - much like I have at cerys.com. Is there any interest in such a capability? - please let me know!
Hope this helps,
Iain

I tried to use BugMe! Messanger to send EM2 pictures. Actually without success. May be it's because I own VDX with PalmOS 3.1. After all I tried EyeMail2 programm (you may buy it at www.handango.com, it costs $15). Work fine. It just allows to send EM2 pictures (either PalmSize or FullSize) to up to 3 e-mail recipients.
