-- My Visor Tanked! (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=8569)
My VDX tanked last night. Actually the unit still functions, but no longer hotsyncs. I hot hotsynced serveral times that day and then poof no more hotsync. After checking my software and re-installing the software (and the W2K patch) I thought it might be my cradle. When I took it to work and attached it to my hotsync cable at work it didn't sync there either. Blah. Looks like the hotsync connector on the VDX is dead (or the electronics). What a pain. This will be my second Visor that had a problem. First had the memory bug and ate batteries.
I guess I get to give Handspring's customer support a second try. The first time wasn't that pleasant.
Woo Hoo!
I got the thing to sync. I was reading some of the other threads and came across one that mentioned to try a reset. I figured what the heck, and now it is syncing at work. I'll have to see if my cradle still functions at home tonight.
I figured the thing was toast since then last time I hotsynced my computer rebooted, which was strange. So the moral of this story: "Try a soft reset. You've got nothing to loose!"
Hotsync woes
I had the same problem last night and figured out that my hotsync name had somehow been erased off my visor. I had to do a hard reset and a hotsync to restore it. I heard about a program that lets you change you hotsync name. Can anyone direct me to it or at least tell me what it's called?

From a previous post:
So much for being wise in the Dao of Palm. There IS a program, called "PalmName 3.0" developed by Collin R. Mulliner. His website is http://www.mulliner.org/palm/
Read his documentation on the difference between altering just the UserName or both the Name and the UserID as well.

I saw this while looking for hot sync solutions...
