Bad screen visibility outdoors
Hi,
I'm thinking in buying a Handspring Visor and the Prism looks very nice but many people say that in outdoors os difficult to look at the screen.
Is that bad outdoors?

Exaggerated
I think the readability in sunlight thing is exaggerated. i am able to use my Visor Prism in all conditions...even direct sunlight. Mind you, its not half as bright as what we are used to using the unit indoors.

Easy to read
The prism is easy to read --
Just take your coat; pull it up over your head and make a small tent to read the prism under.
Makes it a little difficult to walk, but at least you'll look stupid.

I tried using it at 7 am while waiting for bestbuy to open today, and i gave up on it for outdoors, most of what people tell you is true. I turned the brightness to max and was only able to see a light image, you mostly see black and your reflection.

While I have some difficulty reading the screen outdoors in bright sunlight, it is not an impossibility.

Ok MrKi,
You want the truth...........WELL YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH, just playing. Seriously though, I have a Prism and I think it is the best Color palm device out there on the market. But...When my father came to me about advice about buying a Visor, I did not recommend the visor due to the fact that the majority of the time he will be using it outside. I can play games and use my visor outside of the house as long as I am in a car or something that provides some sort of shade. If you try to use the Visor in DIRECT sunlight with the brightness turn all the way up...well lets just say the you can tell that it is on. You can make out a dim image on the screen. Unless you are just trying to look up an address real quick or something of that nature, it's pretty much useless under sunlight. THAT IS THE TRUTH. But I still love my visor, IT STILL ;in my opinion, HAS THE BEST COLOR OF ALL PDA'S (well maybe not better then the IPAQ, but that's a whole story of it's own).
BOTTOM LINE:
If you need to use you PDA outside more then inside, get a mono screen visor or other brand color pda.
If you won't be using it outside a lot, get the Prism!
But do be aware that NO color device, can out do a grayscale model it direct sunlight. AND YES THAT COMES FROM FIRST HAND USE. Working at gateway I have got to play around with a lot of Pocket PC's and Palm Powered PDA's.
Hope this was helpful.
Heh.
You're posing an interesting new (or perhaps existing) thread. Where do you use your Visor?
I use it just about anywhere. Forget about sunlight. Let's talk about daylight and the bottom-er line:
It works. The screen can be seen. There's no doubt or argument about that, but plain and simple, the Prism viewer (on the go, during the day) ideally should resemble it's appearance indoors. That's the gist of mutual concern. If only our vision was like fine wine or wisdom. Also look at this from the persepctive of an Eyemodule user (for example) who really relys on outdoor shots and crosses fingers that the synchronized jpeg is A-ok. It's almost vampirical (is that a word?) to run for shade. Where is the dracula smiley, Marcus?
