-- is Ice more readable? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=1303)
i was comparing Visors of different colors today at Staples. Somehow I felt that the screen/text was more legible on an Ice Visor than other colors. I heard another customer also said the same thing. Maybe because the white case provides less competing contrast to the screen. Does any of you share this perception? Also, in general, don't you think the Visor's screen is a bit hard to read?
chris
I don't think so. Probably, the contrast of the Graphite was not adjusted properly.
Wow what a topic!
I have owned a Palm since 1996, and in upgrading to Visor a real potential for me, I want to have a "brighter" color than basic gray or black.
In thinking about that, I have wondered if there is some ability (even if slight) for the translucent casing to provide a bit more readability.
I wouldn't say the graphite users have inferior reading ability to the ice color users, but it is something I'll try to examine side-by-side.
It might just be a personal thing for me, after four plus years of basic gray.
I think it is the contrast or it's psychological.
The same screen looks different with different colors surrounding it. A couple of years ago, a monitor company made their monitors in a variety of colors. In the store, side by side, they all looked dramatically different, even when showing the same screen. I'm sure that their might have been some small differences, but even the magazines reviewing them mentioned the perceived color shift with a lighter, darker, or colored bezel surrounding the screen.
After all that... If one looks easier on YOUR eyes, it could have some real value!
Apple puts a white translucent border around monitors for the very reason you mentioned, christo.
I KNEW there was a reason I went against type and picked a color other than my old standby(blue).
Ice will suffice.
Of course, with the green trimmed guts showing through, it's more of a Green and White thing (go Michigan State).
Wow, this is wierd, a user named Christo is being advised on the use of colored borders.
Hmmmm.
