Question

Is palm going to be drastically reducing the prices of their current palm devices? I've heard that they may be doing this but i've not heard how much they will be reducing them.

Do you know ANY technical product where prices are not decreasing?

Easy: Zip disks. They've been around for three years now, and still cost about CDN$20 each...

As far as I know...

On October 4, Palm will be debuting the new Palm Vx.. which is basically a Palm V with 8 MB of memory instead of 2.

On that day... or before, the Palm V is supposed to drop to $399 (the Vx should weigh in at $449), and the Palm IIIx is to drop to $299.

Now everyone who surfs the net enough knows that you can CURRENTLY get better prices than these... but this it the "retail price" that is dropping. DOes that mean they are dopping the price they charge dealers and distributers making internet prices cheaper? I hope so.. but I'm not sure. The cheapest prices I've seen are about $350 for the Palm V and $275 for the Palm IIIx at shopping.com.

Visors, well, ZIP disk price have only a little price decrease in years. That's because only Iomega is making them. There are a few other brands on the market - still, all are OEM made by Iomega.

You can bash Handspring again and again and again - but it will definitely bring us a cheaper and better Palm. Just wait a few month.....

If there would have been no AMD and Cyrix we would still using 286 CPUs with 10 MHz.

Wink

I'm betting Palms won't drop that much this week. Palm still has the brand name and will want to see what that's worth, at least until Visor gets into stores. They'll try to make a little extra $$$ for Christmas season.

Unlike us, there still lots of folks who won't take a chance on an unseen product/ new company. (Hope I'm wrong, though!)
