-- US visorphone plans (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=9918)
hi i'm a canadian and i'm moving to austin, texas in january. i plan to pick up (soon hopefully) either the visorphone (GSM) or the other CDMA clone one that's coming out. i was wondering if any of you could tell me about the main US digital cellular providers that i should be considering, either GSM or CDMA at this point, i guess. do some companies offer both? who are the biggies? sprint? verizon? help help...thanks
Where I live, in California, Pacific Bell is probably the biggest carrier for GSM. Voicestream is also a big player. I currently use a Sprint PCS plan, which is based on Qualcomm's CDMA. My plan was 1500 min./mo. anywhere in the US for $49.95, although Sprint's currently offering the same package for $34.95/mo.
I'd assume that in Austin, Bell South would be the main provider for GSM. I only wish we could have some idea of what kinds of plans will be available for the VisorPhone. If I can't get something comparable to my current plan, I'll have to wait for AirPrime to distribute the CDMA version to its OEMs, which is supposed to happen next summer (Innogear time?).
C'mon, Handspring, show me the plans!
I would like to see some plans for the visorphone that include lots of SMS transactions included and e-mail, yet a small number of voice minutes and of course and keep the price close to the voicestream minimum plan which is $20. Also, I would like to see good usage for Family Plan, for multiple visorphone's that again, feature rich the SMS number of messages and pool family minutes.
