With more people converting thier Prisms to 16MB and hopefully this gets perfected for the Platinum. Maybe even Handsprings next generation having 16MB, who could use a 16MB backup Module. Surely Handspring and / or Hagiwara has something in the works. Any thoughts?

it would be neccassary and I bet a lot of people would want it, so I can see someone makeing such a modle. Untill 16 meg visors become a supported feature and not a basement moification though I doubt that they will make one.

Cool

Are you so sure that the Backup Module doesn't support 16 megs? I just sent my Prism to Tony at Palm Upgrade for the 16meg upgrade, and he told me that the Backup Module would work. I believe the Backup Module uses compression to accomodate additional memory. Does anyone have any official information from Handspring on this?

hmmm

Maybe the guy that does the palm memory upgrades would also do the backup module. Send it in, it comes back with 16 MB. That would be neato. Of course you could just get the memplug too!

It will work, but it will warn you that it can only back up the first 8MB. This was mentioned in an earlyer post.

Question

Can you back up the second 8megs with a second module? Is there any way to control which files are backed up?

use of second back up module

The Backup module creates an image of all of the files on your visor. There is no way to have it dictate what files it backs up. That is not an option. So using a second backup module would simply back up that first 8 megs a second time. Sorry. Its simply not a feature of the back up module. However I can selectivly backup files onto my cf adaptor. I am sure that you can do the same thing with the memplug as well.

Smile Memplug's Backup

Memplug with built-in application PiBackup,
that support one tap backup and restore similar to Backup Module.

One of our beta tester already reported that he can backup his 16MB Visor without any problem.

We also has the built-in application PiMover that enable user to selectively transfer their application or database to/from the SmartMedia Card.

Lightbulb Why not use JackBack?

Hey guys,

Looking over Scott Hanselman's review of Brayder Technologies' JackBack software on this site, you should easily be able to use that software and Hagiwara's 16 MB Memory Springboard to give yourself the same seamless backup module functionality as the standard backup module (plus you could use the remaining memory for additional programs and applications!). Just a thought...
