Well I know this probably sounds pretty redundant with all of the other posts about homemade screen protectors but I feel that I might as well post this.

Tonight I made a clear screen protector for my VDX using an overhead transparency. I do have the nushield transparency's and they're good but they make everything look faded so I set out to make my own. I cut a piece that would fit onto the visor's screen. Since the transparencies that I have are for inkjet printers they have a rough side. I sprayed this side with windex then soaked it in water for a few minutes and rubbed off stuff that made it rough and voila! a clear screen protector that doesn't reduce the clarity of the VDX's beautiful screen. I used 3M's Transparency Film for Ink Jet Printers (CG3460). I bought these awhile ago so I don't know if they're still available.

I would actually reccomend a Clear Vinyl for a clear Screen Protector. IT's dirt cheap at hardwaree stores, and my protectors cost <1 cent. I like it becuase it has this cool drag effect.. very nice.. Just hard to put on withotu air bubbles. It's much better than transparencies IMHO.

sheet protectors

I still prefer vinyl sheet protectors (for 3 ring binders). Super cheap,quite durable, clear and a nice smooth surface. You can buy a single sheet at most small office supply stores (not office max etc.) or Kinko's.

I found my clear vinyl at Walmart in the fabric section. I got the thinnest grade available. It's been working great! Never spent over $1. For that price I was able to get a square yard. I don't think I'll need screen protectors for quite some time.
