Just to point out... this little radio is FM only. Key buttons appear to be on the bottom where you would not be able to access them without taking it out of the springboard slot. The price is right, though. It's probably fine for a keychain or necklace radio. Anyone got one? I'm curious what the quality is like.

What I would LOVE for someone to develop is a portable AM/FM radio with the capability to also play streaming audio from the internet without being connected to a phone line.

Many of the shows I like to listen to on the radio (AM of course) I could also pick up off the internet.

I assume this would cost more than 50 bucks, but if it worked, it would be awesome!

I often have thoughts of the perfect wireless handheld. It'll get perfect reception of any wireless signal. That includes HDTV, Internet, regular TV, All wireless Phone standards, and a few wireless technologies no one has thought of yet.

But the more devices that use the radio spectrums, the more interference there seems to be. Cable TV succeeds because for the most part it works and reaches when/where OTA TV stations don't. Then there's security to deal with, although wired technologies have their security problems too.

I like your idea. I just can't imagine (at least in Kansas) of there being a reliable data source everywhere I take my Visor. Now maybe if satellite Radio has on-demand music channels...and a 2-way network capability. Hmmmm.

I think this is no longer the reason it succeeds, it does so because it offers more channels. If people got cable just because they couldn't recieve normal signals then they'd subscribe to "life line" cable, aka cable that merely sends broadcast channels. I've never known anyone, except satellite subscribers, to get this.

Only a handful have mentioned what I feel will drive this idea over the top: Shortwave! AM/FM is all-well-and-good, NOAA Weather is great, but shortwave is key (and hopefully an international solution for the AM-basher from France.) Without shortwave, I'd have to say c, or b, at most. With shortwave, I'd say BBC! Sorry, couldn't resist. A+!

P.S. If there are obvious technical limitations to incorporating shortwave that everybody but me is privy to, please be merciful in your replies ;-)
