Edge tradein rebate = nearing pricedrop?

Anybody interpret Handspring's move as a field test for a price drop? I'm really interested in getting the Edge but my budget is painfully low at the moment. I'm planning on getting one in the late summer (come on federal tax cut check!!!! You're awesome Prez. Bush!!!) and I was thinking that maybe they will come down in price after the release of the color edge.

comments anyone?

Yes. They've followed this pattern a few times now.

Not to get off topic but that new PDA is going to cost more than you think

May that day come blessed and soon!

I'd hardly consider Salon a non-biased and accurate source on a matter like this.

True, but it was the fastest one for me to find...

....before we get any further off topic, I'll stop. Let's just say I'm a left-wing, granola-eatin, tree-huggin, liberal pinko, and sometimes I just can't help myself!

I like the way they (Salon) make it sound like reducing the size of government is a terrible thing. What a load of crap!!!

gee, I wasn't planning on starting a political thread here, I just wanted to know if anyone thought handspring will lower the price of the edge by the time I get my federal refund check.

But since I started this with my comment, I'll comment further. It is a fact Americans will be getting a check in the mail if they paid taxes. About the percentages of the tax cut. Do you know that the top 1% of earners pay 30% of all taxes? Do you further know that the top 5% earners pay about 50% of all taxes. Further information shows that the top 10% pay 63% of all taxes. Do you know how much the average american pays? about 7%. So that tells me that of course a tax cut that gives everyone a break will give more back to rich (amount wise) because they pay the highest percentage.

btw I am a mid-wage earner, not a rich guy defending the tax cut for the rich

if you want more information from an unbiased report (all facts a little opinion):

did a search and found more info:

top 50% pay 95.7% of all taxes
that leaves the bottom 50% paying about 4.3% of all taxes

hmmm

anyway, to stay on topic:

how much do you expect handspring to drop the price? full $100, or less?

I lied, I can't stop. I don't care what percentage of the total tax a certain group pays, what I care about is taxes as a percentage of livable wage. In other words, What percentage of a given person's income goes to taxes, and how does that affect their quality of life? That's the key. Taxes affect a single mom with two kids earning 25 grand a year at the local WalMart and paying childcare on top than they do for the top 10%, or 50%, or whatever. Taxes are as issue of justice, but the measure of justice isn't money, it's our ability to pursue life, liberty, and property. The rich don't have their ability to do that hampered by taxes, despite their complaining.

Right. I'm thinking they'll drop the 100 bucks. Which is too bad, almost, because I think that the Edge is every bit as good as the more expensive m500.

I agree with D, there.

A friend and I were having dinner one evening and I was telling him about the excitement of getting my first paycheck only to find that almost 30% had been deducted in taxes and social security.

"That's why you should vote Republican," he said.

"Well, no. I don't mind the 30%. I do care about what they do with it, though," I replied.

I think we all have to give our share and be active. Not like that 30% is going to prevent me from living comfortably.
