-- Eyemodule & Complact Flash Machinations? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=11533)
Greetings,
I've been thinking about getting the upcoming Eyemodule2, and getting a compact flash card to store the photos. But now I'm starting to think about all that it would entail. Do I understand this correctly:
1) Offload contents of my overstuffed Prism to my backup module.
2) Do a hard reset to free up the Prism's ram to store new photos.
3) Install Eyemodule2 and start shooting pictures, while storing them to Prism's internal ram.
4) When Prism's memory is full, remove Eyemodule, insert compact flash for storage.
5) After storing photos on compact flash, do another hard reset to free up Prism's ram to either shoot more photos or restore original Prism data from backup module.
6) When I get home, do I have to then load all the photos back into Prism's ram in order to offload them onto my computer for printout?
So am I correct? If so, what a pain in the neck!
If all of the above is true, it might be worth the extra expense to just buy a separate digital camera. All this module swapping and ram resetting is a bit much.
What are your opinions?
Thanks,
-cnegrad

Well first of all why would you have to do a hard reset to remove the pictures? Why not just delete them usinf the Eyemodule software?
Second, once the photos are on the compact Flash, can't you just use a CF reader for your PC to get them off?

I seem to recall from the documentation that the images stored in memory are a nonstandard format so you need to bring them out through a conduit.
That's not to say that they won't make a converter available but since the images are stored in a db, it would tend to make it problematic today.

Why not just get one of the new 16mb modules? Move like half or all of your apps onto them, keeping the databases on Prism, and then take pictures with EyeModule filling up the rest of remaining memory. Once your done takign pictures or need more memory, take out eye module and move the new pics also to the 16mb module.
Anyone know if the conduit will get the pics from both the module & the internal RAM?

The conduit software will not grab them if they are on the 8m flash card and I assume the CF card will be even less likely.
I have to move them from flash to memory which is a pain.
