I just picked up a stowaway at CompUSA in Burbank, CA last night (only 2 left, and none at the Woodland Hills store - so all you Valley folks had better hurry!), and I am just amazed at the engineering of the thing... it actually seems smaller to me than it looks in the photos.

It seems to be very well made, but due to its compact and portable nature there are a few things that I'm worried about in the long term, and I was wondering if people who have had their Stowaways for a little bit longer have been having any trouble yet. (I'm not expecting any yes answers, but I thought it might be good to start a thread in case people *do* start to have problems.)

My biggest concern is with the two main latches that hold the keyboard shut against the pressure of the key springs. It seems sturdy enough, but it's not hard to imagine the plastic part of the mechanism breaking, or the metal catch getting bent, etc. With repeated use.

Another concern is the key springs themselves... if the keyboard spends much of its time closed, do the springs lose their resistance, since they are compressed when you fold the keyboard up?

And lastly there's the little brace that slides out to support the Visor when you dock it... there's not much to it, and I've already noticed that the plastic part likes to flip down if you're don't tilt it *all* the way up, which could place undue stress on the connection between the Visor and keyboard if you don't notice it.

Just a few long-term concerns! Since it's warrantied for a year, and I'll be *super* careful with my new baby, I'm not really worried... It's a fantastic product and I wouldn't discourage anyone from buying it. I gotta find a good coffee shop somewhere so I can do some writing with my new toy.

My STOWAWAY is now about 1hr old and I've had over twenty people troop through the office to see it... Got it at CompUSA on Westheimer in Houston.

Neatest thing since sliced bread especially since we are starved for springboards!
