-- platinum & afterburner... how? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=9437)
theres a posting in here wheere someone did testing with platinum & afterburner...
as far as i know, afterburner's max is 32mhz. and the platinum is 33mhz... how could it possibly be of any use?
in fact, wouldnt it be Worse?
ive been thinking about this. eres how i think afterburner works. it doesnt tell the processor to go 32 mhz, it tells it to go 2x faster or something like that. something to that effect. that would explain some peoples faster benchmarks.
As per Daniel Wee, author of Afterburner 3.x,:
"What improvement you will likely see will be only the result of waitstate reduction and not overclocking. In the present state, I doubt if Afterburner will make much of a difference to a 33MHz machine. ..."
If you're not running QuickBits on a Platinum or Prism, you're missing out on a nice speed boost.
allright, i was wrong. i just checked and it actually does slow it down.
and your right, quickbits rocks
I haven't noticed much speed improvement at all on my Prism using Quickbits. Any suggestions on an app that'll wow me into thinking its doing something other than some nifty tricks with their benchmarking?
