-- How to set for new battery type? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=1967)
I'm changing from alkaline batteries to NiMH.
To make the battery indicator act correctly, you have to set to the proper battery type.
You open a new memo, and do shortcut dot 7until the new battery type appears in the memo.
Problem is, Visor uses PalmOS 3.1h, so it cycles between alkaline/nicad/rechargable alkaline. NiMH is not implemented until you get Palm OS 3.2.
So which battery type should I use as the closest match to NiMH?
Interesting question. But I dont have an answer, but i have more questions.
Where does it say what setting its on?
And what other shortcuts are there? Where did you find this?

Look for the program "NiMHSet" on palmgear.
Axman, thanks for the info!
tvt, it indicates the setting by typing it into the open meno document.
There is a list of all the shortcuts at http://www.palmgear.com/faq/faq.cfm...=61&catID=3
Be warned that not all of them work on the Visor, and some of them can really screw up your unit.
The "shortcut" stroke starts at the lower left and looks like a cursive "L". It is listed on the Graffiti cheat sheet. Access the cheat sheet by drawing a line from the Graffiti area up into the main screen.
I can't seem to use ANY of the dot-# shortcuts. I've tried entering them on the launcher and i've tried entering them as a new memo, but none seem to work. After I type the shortcut .#, it seems to recognize the command because it deletes the shortcut symbol from the memo... but it doesn't DO anything.
I'm not really worried, but I find it curious that it works on some visors and not others.
A couple things to note when using the shortcut commands... let's take the shortcut .7 for instance...
Go to a new memo...
Draw the shortcut symbol (similar to a lower case cursive L).
Draw a period (tap twice)
and then do the 7
The two most common gotcha's that I've seen are not including the period and/or entering the number in the letter side instead of the number side...
