Unhappy

Looks like this is not my week as far as computers go! I recently had to put my desktop (which I normally use to HotSynch my VisorDeluxe). The desktop normally runs Outlook 98. I decided to install Palm Desktop on my laptop so I could use the laptop to synch my VDX on a temporary basis. (Both machines use USB). Due to an incompatibility between Outlook and work-related Novell software on the laptop, Outlook Express is the default e-mail program on the laptop. Following instructions, I set up Outlook Express as the "Simple MAPI" client so that my mail would be synched. Initially, the HotSynch worked fine. Subsequently though, the HotSynch freezes while it reports that it is checking mail. Every time I check the setup menu in Outlook Express, the Simple MAPI box is unchecked, no matter how many times I reset it. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get my HotSynch working again with the laptop? Can I somehow bypass the mail synchronization on the Palm Desktop (I didn't see a menu to do this)?

Thanks!

In the HotSync Manager, you can change the mail conduit action to not perform mail synchronization.

On your System Tray, click once on the HotSync Manager icon. A "pop-up" option window should appear.

Scroll to the "Custom" option and select it. The conduit dialog box should appear.

The "Mail" conduit should appear near the top of the selection window, if not already at the top. Click once on the "Mail" conduit to highlight it and then click on the "Change" button on the right side.

That should bring up the "Change HotSync Action" window. From there, you can change the Mail conduit action. It's probably set to "Synchronize the files". Change it to "Do Nothing". Then, find the small check box that says "Set as default" and check it.

Click on the "OK" button afterwards and you've reconfigured your Mail conduit to not perform a mail synchronization with Outlook Express.
