Platinum Upgrade Question and more...
I'm a Visor Neo fan but I also have a Platinum that I'm not using.
Reason:
Even though the specs. on the HS website read the same for Plat and Neo, the Neo, at least the one I have, is faster and has better screen quality.
My question is:
Handspring has an operating system update/patch for the Plat. Does anybody know anything about it?
Anybody downloaded/installed it?
The whole thing about the difference between the Neo and Plat has got me confused. I don't know whether it is worth getting the Plat out to try again.
I'd like to be able to think I could keep it for a back-up but maybe selling it is a better way to go.
Open to suggestions.
Upgrade for platinum.
Hey,
Unless the upgrade is new it is only for grafitti recognition improvements among other things.
Check on www.handspring.com.

Plat is faster--Neo has a better screen
On any benchmark program I have seen the Plat is about 20% (or more) faster than the Neo--I'm not sure why-
BUT
I agree-- and most reviewers "Saw" it the same way-- the Neo screen is better--More like the Edge screen--A bit clearer and sharper--
A Crying Shame
First, let me say I am a dedicated Visor user.
Now, having said that, I just don't get why Handspring has made this so confusing... and why they are so unresponsive on this issue.
i.e. if you go to their "refurbs" page the darned descriptions for the Plat and Neo are the same and, worst of all, the prices are the same. Yet the Plat is out of production but you can buy a new Neo.
The crying shame of it all is that they don't seem to care. Yet, especially for ebook reading, I'll put the Neo, Plat, and Deluxe (in that order) against ANY handheld available today.
I know I'm probably preaching to the converted but where else can I vent about a comatose company that happens to have some goods products.
Wish there was a way to get those good products into the hands of a company that sees the light 'cuz its getting pretty dim at Handspring.
and that is a crying shame.
You got it!!
It seems they are going with communicators alone--
The Visor series has a lot of life left in it--
E-books are a whols seperate media--(IE Franklin) that is not being properly addresed by HS-
And there is a large installed base using specialized--medicla and industrial springboardswitha big investment thereis--
but we aren't marketing experts--
In fact--I've been told on this site that I just don't understand marketing--
Thank GOD-- I guess I'm still sane-
