Just a note: since there's no online ordering system, the Handspring reps can't know how many of each color are "spoken for." Consequently, there really isn't any way of knowing how a color choice may affect shipping date. It would be unfortunate if a purchaser ordering the "ice" color (for example) was in for a three-month wait because that color is now backordered, while the green or blue might be available in four weeks. From the tone of many of the posts, it sounds as if there are quite a few people who would opt for the earlier shipping date rather than the particular color. I guess the hope is that the order confirmations, when they finally arrive, will include this kind of info...and then we'll be able to change color choice at that point.

ICE! The colors aer always a little trendy, but the trends of the day seem to always miss me! This is one shade that I think has been cool for a while, since the days of Swatch and neon phones. I suspect clients will always oogle my PDA, and hopefully the color isn't too distracting for them. I also wanted a green one, but that was too bright and I was afraid of the contrast with the screen.

Wish the darned thing would hurry up and get here.

I also ordered a blue one...It may be a bit trend sensitve (Imac, G3 etc)But it looks a lot better (and more fun) than the grafite one...

The sales person said that mine was the last blue one, no more blue's can be ordered....

Just kidding of course, I just hope not too many people will order the blue one so it's get sold out...

Hopefully Handspring will adapt the production to the demand and will start making blue ones first...

Next thing I'll be waiting for is the availability of an MP3 springboard...

I ordered a graphite color, but I am considering a change to a blue color Is there any info regarding the percentages of different colors ordered?

Either people who ordered green aren't talking about it or I am the only one. My emerald green visor may be a collectors item even before I get it.

I thought about picking up a graphite Visor at first, because black and shades of grey are my favorite colors. Then I decided that it was kind of a boring decision (no offense to anyone who picked up a graphite Visor) because, hey, Palm Pilots and IBM Workpads have been coming out in grey and black for years now, and this is the first time a handheld has come out in more exciting shades. My next thought was to show my school pride (Syracuse University) and get the orange Visor, but I've always thought that the color orange on ANYTHING was kind of an eyesore. So, I went with the Visor that was most asthetically pleasing to me: the blue one. Maybe I've been conditioned by months of iMac hype, but I think the blue front and clear back will look pretty groovy.

WooHoo!! Just ordered mine. Blue, Deluxe, with an additional serial cradle. The Rep I talked to said they are not using Pen and Paper anymore to take orders. He also said there is enough stock to ship so that none will be put on back order. He said there is still no definate date, just sometime in October. He said I should receive my confirmation number, via email, in a week. Can't Wait!!

Well, I finally did it and ordered a Visor Delux. After thinking about it for a few days i thought "the longer i wait now, the longer i'll have to wait to get it." (maybe they will be backordered.) I am very excited about it, and hope i like it. My current palm is an old palm pilot personal. .5 mb ram. the 8 mb will be a lot more! I'm kind of annoyed at the stylus though. I was hoping it would be a cool metal one like the palm III and such. Oh well. anyway, i got a blue one, because the graphite was too plain, and the other were too bright(except maybe ice) thats all.

Well haven't been able to order one yet since I'm not in the US (i'm in australia) but once Handspring releases them internationally next year I think I'll be getting the blue one. The graphite is cool and all but i think it's a bit boring...

I ordered the blue straight off, so another vote for that.

Graphite is much too mundane and 'ice' still looked a little plain.

I ordered Ice - of course because I'm cool as ice!!

I just ordered the ice color. Some interesting tidbits:

1. The rep said that the backs of the Visors were all black, and that the front was clear (or green, etc.) Was he misinformed? Hmm.
2. He said to expect them in maybe the 3rd or 4th week of October, although nothing definite yet.

I would say he was misinformed. All the literature I have seen on the new colors states that the back is a clear plastic, except for the graphite color. That one is black plastic. The back is the same color as the front of the ice color, for all of the clear colors. Another reason I went for the Ice.

I agree that he was misinformed, but in the interest of full disclosure, I thought I'd throw it out.

I'm already having second thoughts. I mean, what do you put in 8 MB?

I havn't really figured that out yet, but it will be a lot of stuff! Judging by the amount of shareware and other apps available, 8 megs might come in handy. It won't all be for addresses and phone numbers, I don't know "that" many people. Future springboards might be dependent on the memory of the visor, depending on how complicated they get. Therefore, I am of the opinion that I would rather have too much space, rather than have too little. Plus, I don't change models all that quickly, so I will probably have it for a few years, and all that space could change over to all too little space all too soon.

Okay, I'm planning on building databases on mine, but even without that, I find that memory and storage space follow the same law...

No matter how big the bucket, you'll always need more!

Add another graphite deluxe to the tally!
