Question

When I loaded the Palm Desktop software, I was using Outlook Express for email. Then I loaded Office 2000 and started using Outlook instead. I decided I hate that (can't have separate email accounts without logging in as a new user into Windows, versus Outlook Express you just click to another account and enter in that email account password -- unbelievably stupid... maybe MS deserves whatever they get).

So I went back to Outlook Express and made that my default email. But now when I sync, I have 0 emails on my visor (138 in Outlook Express), even though it says Mail sync OK. In Help, it says to make sure to configure Outlook Express properly, 1) Make Outlook Express My Default E-Mail Program
2) Make Outlook Express My Simple MAPI Client.

Well, 1) is easy. Did that. But as seems to be the norm in any Windows program Help I've ever used, 2) isn't an option in Outlook Express. There is some reference to IMAP email, or something like that, and I don't know if that's the same thing, but no place to select that as anything.

So, any ideas on how I can get my email back on my Visor?

I'll give it a shot...it sounds like Outlook Express is your mail program for Windows, but your hotsync may be still set to Outlook.

Launch Palm Desktop. Under the HotSync menu, click on Custom. You get the list of conduits and their current actions. Click on Mail, then click Change. Click Mail Setup at the bottom. Select Outlook Express from the drop-down menu, then click Next. Follow the prompts.

As for #2, I didn't find that option either.
Launch Outlook Express. Go to Tools/Options, and look at the bottom of that box. There should be buttons which say Make Default for default mail handler and default news handler. Click them if they aren't greyed out. Then, click on the Connection tab and, under Internet Connection Settings, click Change.
In the Internet Properties box, click the Programs tab; then select Outlook Express for both mail and newsgroups. (If, as a result of clicking Make Default, they already say "Outlook Express," don't change them.) Click OK as needed to exit all boxes.
Shut down Outlook Express and Palm Desktop, reboot, and pray.
