How do you find out what domains are registered to Handspring?

Posted by Thunderbird291 on 08-15-2001 04:11 AM:

Wow Miradu, you really are the geek next door. Where do you go to find this info out??

Also, I got the 100th reply to this post! Wee!

**Aww, I got beat to this 100th post by 1 minute. Oh well, make that 101th!

Posted by miradu on 08-15-2001 04:24 AM:

I thought I explained how I found it. I used the premise, that handspring would be smart enough to buy their domaiin names for their products (cybersquatters == egh!).

I used a base of Pro, and Neo, since those are naems that were confiremd over at the PDAbuzz discussions. They are both regiestered, unlike the Ace and Columbia (And I was finalyl getting used to the Visor ace and Visor columbiua as a name!)

I than did a whois search, found it was netsol. Did a advanced whois search off netsol for Alex Shwartz, and foudn the rest of the domains. http://www.netsol.com/cgi-bin/whois...amp;STRING2.y=8

Notice the large block of names to "Alex Shwartz" 555-1212, 1000 Marketstreet, San Fran, CA. 94118.

The address doesn't exist in the 94118 Zip code. This guys a complete fake, representing handsrping. I'm 100% sure.

As for wireless, that's my educated guess with donna talkign abotu the wireless handheld shes brinign out to her investors..

If you want to see the Staples doc, I'm sure that someone with a scanner would be glad to post it. Ace and Columbia are the names that handspring will be using, at least I'm convinced.

I understand. and I trust what you said, but I heard from closer sources to me, that they were actually Neo and Pro, and since Neo and Pro are regestered unlike Ace and Columbia it furthured my assumptions.

Thumbs down

Hmmm. I'm not goign to say I was wrong, but maybe I was a bit mistaken. Check out what google finds, for the existance of an Alex Schwartz. http://www.google.com/search?sa=X&a...,+Schwartz,++CA

Look athte second one fomr the bottom San Fransisco. So I geusss technicly, this could be somebody who didn't want their real phone # or real address on the domain.. *sigh* And his Zip is only one char off.

Let me apologize right here, right now, on the Visorcentral Discussion boards, for calling Alex Schwartz a fake. I am sincerly sorry, and I really thought that this was Handspring. *sigh*

Let me also apologize to the REAL Alex Schwartz right here, for calling you a fake. Please take no offence, as I was only tryign to figiure out how Handspring was running stuff... I got over zealous, and assumed certain things. because of the fake address/phone number it really got me suspisioucs

well, back to the starting board.

and I AM serious abotu what I say. I feel not only bad that I over hyped it, but that my dreams were shattered

*sigh*

Lightbulb

Okay lets see how far I can stretch this

I think Ace and Columbia were just smoke screens. Neo and Pro are the real names. And really, if you consider the definition of all four words, they match up

Ace = champion, top rank, world class
Pro = authority, master, professional

See the similarities between Ace and Pro?

Columbia = New Latin, from Christopher Columbus
Neo = new

See the similarities between Columbia and Neo? Columbia = Columbus = new world!!!

Its all starting to make sense now. The stars are finally starting to line up!

(I do find the name Neo a bit interesting. It does mean new, and so I wonder whats new about this particular Visor? Maybe no more Springboard!!!!!!!).

It's still possible that Alex Schwartz is a fake. The other 5 entries there are all in California. Maybe by chance they created a fake Alex that lived in SF not realizing that a real alex does also.

Remember folks I said way back at the beginning of the thread that Ace and Columbia were probably just "Codenames"

Question When?

Does anyone have an idea/guess when Neo and Pro are going to be released? I presume the anticipated price cuts are to clear inventory, then the new units will be released...

And I can't imagine they'd have the nerve to call one of the new units "Pro" if it didn't have a color screen.

Since the Edge didn't become the sales success Handspring had hoped, I can almost promise you these devices will be available immediately upon announcement, directly from HS. It will take a couple weeks to filter out through the retail channel.

It may yet have color. I'm guessing with a name like "Pro" it must have some rather high end feature like a hiRes display or Dual expansion slots, ala Handera.

The "Neo" may be intended to replace the Visor Deluxe series.

Screw that. Take your time and make them good.

BTW, has anyone thought that maybe Alex Schwartz could be a HS employee?

If not, he's going to be the luckiest bastard in the world when these devices are announced!
