-- Ethernet Card? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=5063)
I don't know if this is possible, put could there be a way to make a ethernet card for a Visor? With the correct drivers, etc., would a Visor be able to connect straight to a local network or the Internet? The library at my school has T1 ports at the study tables for notebooks to connect to. I'd like to connect my Visor when I'm at the library so that I can check email and browse the web without having to dial in.
A small IPX and file-sharing backbone would also allow you to get onto a local network and share files with computers on that network by connecting through an ethernet card.
Just wondering and any info would be appreciated.
Since the Visor has a modem that works on a TCP/IP protocol, I see no reason why the Visor couldn't have an ethernet card and be on a TCP/IP network. I have no idea about IPX networks though, and don't even think about making the visor work with appletalk
Come on, we need IBM token ring support.
If they make an ethernet module, it would be cool to have an FTP module to allow portable data transfer. Granted that 8 megs isn't a huge amount, but it might come in handy.
I do a lot of work with factory automation, and an ethernet module and a javascript client would do neat things for replacing panel buttons and lights as well.
i don't know why it wouldn't be doable. i would love to be able to hotsync w/ my desktop from anywhere in the world with just an internet friendly ethernet plug and DHCP.
i could even get e-mail or chat too :-)
when will we have ethernet plugs in payphones will be the day :-)

This is very doable...I'd buy it in a second.
