Contrast Setting

Does a higher contrast setting cause a larger battery drain?

I have 2 Edge's here, one screen is slightly lighter and requires a higher contrast setting to have the "blackness" on the other Edge.

Lighter Edge Screen (Edge 1): Contrast Setting just slightly above graffiti silkscreen divider mark

Darker Edge Screen (Edge 2): Contrast Setting just below graffiti silkscreen divider mark

What are your thoughts on this?

Whow! Earlier I read another guy who was actually complaining that his battery meter only went up to 98% full, not 100% full. Now you're complaining about having to set the contrast a fraction of an inch to the left of some other Edge.

Are we getting a little bit picky here, or what?

I doubt that setting the contrast one way or the other will make much of a difference. I also find that the Edge's battery, along with charging MUCH faster then my previous Palm Vx (may it rest in peace), also seems to last longer then the Vx. I took a week trip to Denver, and used the Edge constantly, and STILL had about 25% battery remaining.

I wouldn't worry too much about the Edge's battery life!

My two cents....you're

Actually, You're nothing... it was a software glich. When I tried to use the "bold" feature, being the computer illiterate that I am, I messed up. Meant to bold "You're", and it somehow got pasted at the end of my message. I ended up just using simple HTML, and didn't happen to notice the extra "You're" at the end of my message.

Sorry to leave you hangin... hope it didn't keep you up all night!

I was the guy who wrote the other post about 98%! Maybe you should compare poster's names before you go "dogging" someone else's post....

I wasn't complaining about the 985 vs 100%. I was simply pointing a fact out that the device was not accurately showing the correct voltage. Like I said in the post, if someone pays $400 for device, that person should get a device that works 100%. If you bothered to read the entire post you'll see I posted a response from Handspring that explains why this is happening. Not to mention the fact that the first HS tech I talked to thought that there was a problem and setup the return. I was going off of what a HS tech told me. He felt there was something wrong and replaced the unit.

As for this forum, I was simply asking a question. I was trying to get input about something I didn't know. Being negative (or calling me picky) doesn't help the forum at all. I had 2 Edges in front of me. Believe or not, the screens are different and one requires more contrast to equal the other. I was trying to get information and help so that I could decide on which one to send back to HS.

I agree that the Edge is better then VDX in battery life and I too can use it for long periods of time without a charge. I've had 3 Edges so far because of different internal hardware failures none of which were my fault. At this point, I'm checking the device very carefully to make sure everything works properly and a battery gauge only going to 95% or 98% is not normal. My first Edge went to 100% every time, my friend's Edge goes to 100%, and the store model at Best Buy goes to 100%.

That's why I was asking the questions....to get some help.
