-- My Ice Visor Deluxe doesn't feel solid (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=661)

The sides have some noticeable "give" to them, just at the seam where the two halves of the case meet. It doesn't feel like it's about to fall apart, but there's a noticeable "creakiness" when I hold the Visor, even without grasping it very hard.

I remember, in the very thorough review that appeared on the Gadgeteer Web site, that the reviewer specifically commented on the case as feeling very solid, without any 'give' or creaking when the sides were squeezed. As I recall he/she was reviewing a Graphite model.

I'm a little worried that my Visor is not going to be very durable. Anyone else with Ice (or other colors) care to comment? Anyone have both a graphite and a color and can make comparisons? I'm wondering if I just got a bad one, or if all the Ice or colored visors are like this. Thanks.

All the Ice visors will melt in your hands when the batteries run low. It's the price you pay for having the coolest color. They're supposed to be stored in the freezer for structural integrity reasons.

I actually ended up with a Graphite and an Ice, and because my significant other hasn't picked up the graphite from me yet, I'm sitting here with both of them. If I close my eyes, I can't tell the difference by weight or heft, but since you specifically pointed out for me to squeeze the sides, there is a minute flexing on the ice that is not present on the graphite.

To be perfectly honest, I don't think it will affect the longevity, but I could be wrong. The difference is extremely minute, and I wouldn't have even noticed it had you not pointed it out.

Well, it's more noticeable on mine. You can actually hear a 'creaking' sound. I'm waiting to see if anyone else reports this before worrying about whether I got a defective unit.

On the sides, I feel it too. I am now the proud owner of a Visor... As of the USPS Mailwoman's delivery of it..

But, I do notice the give on the sides. Nothing too bad. Feels very solid everywhere else.

Cool

I'm the lucky owner of a Graphite and a Blue, and I can really feel that "give" effect in both, but the creaking only on the blue.
I'm not really worried about that. I think it could be because of the different chemical composition of the kind of plastic or something (hey, just guessing, what do I know about this stuff?)

Cool

I had always noted the give on the Palm Pro. This was especially present at the top edge of the machine, but also on the sides.

My Ice VD has none of that give.

BTW, though the Palm Pro flexed a lot, it never got worse and never affected performance.
