For some reason or other I can't select the On option in the beaming pop-up in the Prefs app. Seems to be corrupt. Any ideas?

Somebody else on this board said they fixed that by doing a hard reset.
Be sure to do a hotsynch to back up everything first. Refer to the FAQ for details.

Yes, a hard reset did clean things up and I can now print from MultiMailPro and Palmprint to my HP Deskjet 340.
