-- Replacement Screen (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=10055)

Posted by weirdo513 on 12-11-2000 05:46 PM:

I pulled another Brainer, I dropped my handspring onto the ground in my dorm (which are thoghtfully concrete under .5 cm of pseduo-carpet) and the screen, just the glass shield not the actual LCD spiderwebed. Is there any place I can get another screen component (It all seems to be one plane of LCD/Glass) or am I looking at getting a whole new palm?

Unhappy Answer me this if you can :(

If I where to get a Basic Visor (2mb) would I be able to transplant the screen from the new Visor Basic into my Delux? (This would be a good Iea as it it 100 bucks cheaper)

I found out that I can get it done for 85 dollars.
Or something.

If all you want is the parts so you can do it yourself, check out http://www.gethightech.com/ at $45. Note: I have never had any dealing with them. I was only aware of their service.

Well, Handspring says they will send me a new Visor for $85
All I have to do is send them my old one... hmmm... this company looks kinda sketchy but who knows.

Thanks for the info tho!!

Nice to know that this place is there even if I don't choose to use it.

I thought gethightech.com looked kinda sketchy at first, too, but they're great people to deal with. My screen was shipped in just three days...and when it stopped working a few weeks later, they sent out a replacement right away -- again, it arrived in three days. If you're confortable taking apart your Visor, I highly reccomend ordering a screen from them, and if you're not comfortable taking it apart, I'd trust them to replace it.

I already have taken it apart for fun several times, even took the screeen out and looked it over, and I'm probably gonna try them next time, but at this time I'm gonna just go with handspring. I mean they are sending me a brand new Visor for $85, you can't argue with that. I will probably go with these guys in the future tho(already bookmarked and sent to my palm buds). I can't thank you enough..

Thanks for the kind words

Hi,

Thanks for the kind words. We have been selling palm Parts for over 3 years and in business as Gethightech.com for 1 year now. We made this site to help fellow palm/visor users. We are a small business and try to focus on customer service. We are trying to get more Visor parts but as we all know they are hard to get. Please keep us in mind for the future if you need a part or accessories.
