Is the Palm Desktop enough of a backup? Can this be used if you have to reinstall all of your information?
Thanks'

How sure do you want to be?
The more recent versions of Palm Desktop are fine and dandy in most cases, but if you're at all paranoid, or simply want to make sure you get the best backup in the fastest time, get BackupBuddy. (http://www.bluenomad.com/bb/prod_ba...dy_details.html)
Try this simple test: Hotsync as normal, then copy your backup directory someplace. Now install the demo version of BackupBuddy and hotsync again, then compare the contents of your backup directory with the one you saved.
IMHO, it was well worth the thirty bucks to know that if my PDA ever crashes, all I need to do is pop it in the cradle and push the button to get a COMPLETE restore of the entire contents.
Backup Module
I also recommend the Backup module. Especially if you are away from your PC and have to Restore.
I use both BackupBuddy and the module since I am a backup fanatic.
I only use the backup module. I'm not going to pay for software for functionality I already have, and the backup module has a serious advantage in portability over my iMac

I synch regularly to make sure I have all my data available in the desktop software and on my Visor. I also have two backup modules so that I can keep one at home and one at work. It also lets me bring a backup module with me on trips so that if anything happens I can restore my visor without much of any trouble. I trust the backup module a lot more than the desktop software for backups, but I think it's important to do both.
