-- ::Sigh:: I'm new (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=9052)
Well, I have to admit that I'm new around here. I bought my Visor in June, and I'm thirteen. It's been a drast change of scenery from http://www.bulbagarden.com to here. I moved to a more "mature" board for two reasons. I hated being the only vaguely intelligible life form at the last (Pokmon... Urp.) board. I love the people there, and I'll never forget them, but the board has been down forever and it has begun to lose its magic. Anyhow, I'll be mad-posting around a bit to boost my post count.
Also, watch out for my various alter-egoes... I sometimes sign my posties a Pen-Pen, Pengii, Penguu, and other stuff. Just a tidbit. XP~

1987...huh...
I hate to say it but I have socks older then that.
This post has sent me down memory lane.
At age 13 I was .... plunking away on an Apple IIe and a 1400 baud modem.
That machine lasted me until I was a Junior at Arizona State.
Things sure have changed.
Anyway... Welcome....

"in the washroom reading AvantGo channels"?
Hell, I'm 25 and I do that every day at work...I am amazed I have not been fired yet!

FYI
When I was thirteen I watched my dad make his own computer- powered by an ex-Navy sub transformer (we lived in San Jose when the only thing famous about it was that song). He later started a motherboard company (Wameco) that lasted a few years. I guess I'm not the oldest around by a long shot, there's somebody out there that probably was at a Computer Home Brewers meeting with my dad!
BTW he was one of those guys that laughed at Jobs& Wozinak- he liked to ask people what an average person would do with a computer.

That's cool, Bobby!

Memory Lane
Since we're all taking a stroll down memory lane, I'll relate this little story...
When I was 14 Texas Instruments came out with a new...CALCULATOR!! Since stores in Missouri were closed on Sunday, a guy from our physics class went over to Kansas to buy it, just so he'd be the first to have one! I think it was named the "TI-10" and cost $125. Not only could it perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division functions - it also had a percent key. You'd have thought it was dropped out of an alien spacecraft, we were all so damned impressed! But how times have changed...now my six-year-old is a veteran at using my IVX and I'm actually considering getting him the 2 mg model just to play around with!

hmmm...13..you all have me thinking...
when i was thirteen there was the shuttle explosion/cheyrnobl double whammy.
wow! Pengo wasn't on this planet when that happened!! i saw a list somewhere that had all the things a college graduate today was not alive for. i bet we could put together quite the list of things that happened in th 80's that Pengo wasn't around for!!!

So, VoxDei. It sounds like you were raised along one of the MOKAN border towns. I've lived in Kansas City for nearly thirty years, but my first ten were in Springfield (that should give y'all a fair idea of how "young" I am). What part of Missou do you hail from?

No Idea
When I was 13 I used to hear about but had no idea what a Video Game or Computer look like. No I am not an old man
. I am just a few years older than Pengo. But where I come from (third world country), computers and video games are a luxury that only the very rich can/could afford.
Now I am a gadget freak

Well, it was 1970 when I was 13 so there wasn't much in the way of computers at all (at least none that weren't living-room sized!) that ought to make some of you feel younger!
Yardie - where are you from? I too was raised in a "third world" country!
