-- Handspring Banner Ad (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=1046)
When visiting http://www.handango.com (formerly palmcentral) I saw a banner ad for Handspring.
I did "Copy Image Location" on it and got a link. Apparantly there are 3 versions, so if you want to see any of them, just click below:

I like the banners. The only thing I don't get is how they call it the "infinitely expandable" organizer, and yet it doesn't have Flash ROM. That would suggest to me a limitation on expandability. Just my .02
you dont need flash when you have the springboard. Can flash add an mp3 player? i doubt it!
skaman35,
I didn't say that the springboards weren't a great idea. They do ad a ton of expandability to a Palm device. However, what I am saying is that if you're going to call your product "infinitely expandable", you're a little off since the OS can't be upgraded.
I know there's a lot of debate whether an upgradable OS is worth it, since major OS changes are usually accompanied by equally noticeable hardware changes. However, when Palm OS 3.5 comes out and some developers start writing for that OS, and certain apps will only work under that OS, where will Visor users be? If their device were truly "infinitely expandable" then they could use the new OS, right? Well, no.
In addition, OS 3.5 will add greater support of the grayscale used on our displays that is supposed to even give a "3D" effect. Whether that's true or not is yet to be seen, but still, where will Visor users be?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that Visors are junk or inferior or anything like that. I think they are great PDA's that work for many people. The idea of a springboard expansion slot makes sense. However, I was simply noting that the statement made in the banner was not entirely correct, and maybe even a little misleading. That's all.
In a press release I read, I'm quite sure it said that the 3.5 upgrade was (or will be) sent to licensees first so that it can be tailored to the devices. I wouldn't doubt that Handspring will release a modified upgrade (as will the TRGPro), but meant for RAM installation rather than Flash.

Hawkeye,
They say 'infinitely expandable' not 'infinitely upgradeable'....
Besides, there are ways to upgrade without using flash ROM - that's only been a Palm feature recently.
I don't think upgrading the OS will be a big deal at all. Before I got my Visor (less than a month ago) I had a PalmPilot Pro. that ran PalmOS2.0. I would say 80% of the programs I conme across can work on 2.0 (and most that didn't work just had the req. if they used 4-bit grayscale).

re: TRGPro
I thought that the TRGPro had been discontinued! I went to the website and found it was gone!
Umm....
