My Visor has bitten the dust. The hadrware app buttons either stick, or don't work at all. It's as if they're skewed. The Calendar button, for example, when pressed, continuually sends the signal to the Visor and the calendar application reloads over and over again. The memo button does the same thing even though I can no longer feel a tactile click in it at all.

Because of this deadly cycle, even turning the Visor off turns itself back on. Ultimately, it has drained the batteries and is now resting in piece. Monday I shall call to see what they can do.

I am very disappointed in this. I used my Visor daily and now I'll be without it for a while. How can I expect to use my PDA when my PDA can't be used? I think my outlook on PDAs is changing since I have experienced failure first hand. Not just a lock up, or dead batteries, but a catastrophic failure that only hardware replacement can cure.

This is definitely an interesting problem your experiencing ... It does sound like the buttons did get skewed and are making contact with the underlying circuit board.. I am assuming that after the batteries ran dry you tried a hard reset to possibly flush any sort of hardware glitch..

Hopefully Handspring is able to get you back up and running as quick as possible...

I'm sure Handspring will have you up and running ASAP. My screen cracked a few weeks ago, through no seemingly fault of my own, and I had a replacement the next day. So think your customer service experience will be a pleasant one.

After calling support...

I called support. I think the lady on that end was convinced that its a software problem. She asked me to do a hard reset. Since my batetries are now drained, that's not an option until I get new batteries.

Still, I don't understand how they can think its a software button when I can physically tell that the mechanism behind the button is not working. But I guess I must do this and please them anyways.

A company always will tell you to do an easy fix first. If that doesn't work then just call them back, and I'm sure you'll get a replacement.

Replaced!

As of now, my Visor is painlessly replaced by Handspring. The RMA procedure was extremely easy -- so easy, I almost felt guilty for not having any trouble.

Well, there was a little trouble when they sent it to the wrong ZIP code, but once i had the FedEx tracking number, it was easy to find.

Oh, and then there was the fact that somehow, my Outlook Calendar conduit was removed from the registry! I couldn't find my Handspring CD,s o re-installing (as Chapura suggested) wasn't possible. Fortunately, I found the three other Outlook Conduits entires in the Windows registry and was able to re-create what was needed for the Calendar entry.

So, now everything is working again!

My Visor recently bit the dust due to a broken springboard pin connector.(Replaced by CompUSA) Not as catastrophic as yours, but failure none the less. My outlook on PDA's changed also to the point that I realized I was to dependent on it. The backup module saved my behind! I also now have all of my apps on floppy along with all the registration codes
