-- Handspring Case's (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=3545)
We Rec'd the Handspring delux black leather case. Took about 3-4 weeks for delivery. The case is of high quality. Compact. The Visor attaches to the case via a standard Visor plastic cover which is affixed into the leather. That is, as if you were attaching the cover to the back of the unit. THe attachment seems secure and the Visor can be removed very easily. But, I hope the well discussed cracks do not start to appear in near the spring board slot. There is a place for an additional stylus and a place to put a cr card or something.
Over all, I am highly satisfied with the case. But, there is really no shock protection at all. Really the case is like a Visor wallet. This is not the case to get if you are looking for enviromental protection or anythin in that vein.
I have been using my nandspring case for about 2 weeks now. After reading your message. i went over to check the my visor. MY GOSH!! there is a small crack. I think it is in result of using this handspring customize case....
I spent $39 plus shipping plus tax on it..
what should I do?? will the crack get bigger and bigger as time goes by??

May I ask what color visor you have that is cracking? I heard that the colored ones tend to crack more. Also, do you think the plastic case that comes with the Visor caused the cracking or the custom one that you bought in addition to it? I was thinking about buying the slim leather case so I wouldn't have to use the supplied hard plastic case.
well, the custom HS case I bought uses the plastic cover to hold it in place. Remember the transparent plastic cover that comes with Visor. The custom case actually uses it to hold the visor. So I think the crack is due to the tight grabbing of that plastic cover. The crack is still small now, but I don't know what's going to happen if I keep using it. By the way, I have blue visor.

I have IVDx and using my HS case about a week now. Before I received the case, I used the ice hard cover for over a month. So far my Visor has no sign of cracking or whatsoever. I am pretty satisfied with my HS case.
I have an IVDx. I just received the Slim Leather Case in the mail today and I like it, but I have one concern. I have about 5 credit cards, etc. in the pockets, and it looks like they put some pressure on the screen when the case is shut. I'm worried about them putting to much pressure on the screen and cracking it. Of course, I can turn the visor around in the case so the screen is protected, but that defeats much of the convenience of the having the case! Does anyone else have this concern, or has anyone had this happen?

About the custom cases causing cracks..
Here is my tale of woe..
I bought by BVD in September when they first went on the market. Had it a month or longer using the snap cover -no problem. Bought the custom Handspring case (bright analine leather- looks great!). Used it on and off for a few weeks then read a post on this forum about cracks forming in the slot where these cases "snap" on. Sure enough, there was one. I continued to use the case and snap cover but finally the entire ridge was coming off. The case would no longer hold the Visor very well. I was worried that it would fall out of the case.
I called HS and they promptly sent me a brand new BVD (10-15 days)
I thought the cracks must've come from my method of snapping the Visor in and out of the case. I thought to myself "now that I have a brand new unit- I'm going to be VERY careful getting it into and out of the case." I put the Visor in the custom case and left it on my desk for a few hours. When I took it out to hotsync it, I looked AND THERE WAS A SMALL CRACK STARTING. It seems that JUST THE STRESS OF BEING IN THE CASE was enough to begin to crack the unit. NEVER NEVER will I use this case again. $39 down the tube!
Be very wary of the custom cases from HS. The tension they place on the plastic case of the Visor may be enough to crack the case.
I think that the case cracking problem seems to be isolated to the color Visors. I've had a Handspring case with my Graphite VD for over a month and I haven't seen any signs of cracks at all. Other posts on the forums have said the same thing about the GVDs.
huh.. if that's the case, then I have to consider to change the case. What kind of case are you using now?
I have been using this case for about 2 and half weeks now. So far, there is a small crack. but I am afraid that the crack will get bigger and bigger as time goes by..

I just noticed the cracks in my case for the first time tonight. It is an ice case. However, I don't think it would be able to tell they were even there if I had a graphite case, because it wouldn't be translucent. So, it my just seem like the graphite cases crack less frequently...
Cwestergard, are you _sure_ the Visor wasn't being held well after the plastic snapped off? I've heard conflicting stories on this front (i.e. that there is more play, but still enough grip to keep the Visor secure).
I'm equally as curious, as my BVD has no cracks but my girlfriend's OVD had started to. I re-enforced hers with a tiny spot of glue and that seemed to have stopped the advancement.

I can't believe but my Visor has developed cracks on both ends of the ridge, too!!!! For now, it looks like "internal" cracks & I can still use it. I put a tiny bit of glue but if it comes off, I'm calling Handspring.
