Arrow WHAT I MEANT WAS COMPACTING, NOT BACKING UP! SORRY!

My module COMPACTED today. And I was SCARED! Isn't that horrible? The first time it ever did that, it CRASHED and I lost everything on both module & Prism. Arrrgh!

As a new Handspring owner, I'm interested in knowing what experiences everybody else has had, good, bad and everything in between!

Angry Always crashes!

Yes...I am the poor, unfortunate soul whose 8 meg RAM modules consistently crash upon compacting.

Many on this board have tried to troubleshoot.

I'm getting nervous...I've got 434k left on my module. I'm pretty sure that doing ANYTHING to the module will cause it to compact!

There are NO programs on the module, and I make sure to keep at least 500k free on the Visor. I also make sure to have at least twice the free space as the document I'm opening available.

Pray, light a candle, chant, meditate...whatever you do to solicit supernatural assistance, please direct it to the Silicon Valley!!!

Energy vampire...

Yeah...it's happened to me. One outta three times...and another time when it was deleted a program. I htink that the one time it was compacting and crashed, it was due to not having enough juice in the battery. Flash sure takes up a lot, and if you don't pay attention and shift a big file over with just enough memory.

Handspring should install a failsafe which checks battery voltage first, or pop up a dialog box: "Can copy without compacting; Yes- no?"

NOO!!!!

BTW, Get a new version of Backup Buddy...you can backup the Flash Springboard with the rest of the memory.

I'm unaware of this compacting thing, most as i don't own a flash module of any type...
