-- I got my BVD at Staples (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=1237)

in Indianapolis. I got mine fresh from their delivery truck. Well ok, they actually said it was 20-30 minutes. However, they hadn't had time to put it up yet. I have a feeling life is going to be good with my BVD...

CompUSA showed them on order. Circuit City insisted that Palm stipulated that Visors could ONLY be sold via the Internet. Best Buy couldn't comprehend what a Visor was, let alone why I would want one.

Cool

Hey all, just curious, how many other people have visors in Indiana? I'm in Muncie, going to Ball State University.

It was at Staples at 96th & I69. It would be a short road trip from BallU.

I know they received graphite and blue. Don't know how many though.

Ah... Best Buy...
What a wonderful place - NOT...!!!

Don't you just get sick of knowing more than the store people...? But how does Best Buy always end up with the worst..???

I am in Indy and have one.

My brother is in Bloomington and has one.

My office computer consultant and two other friends each bought one after I showed them mine.

Another firend told me he has one.

All told, I know of six in Indiana.

Just curious, what was the price.. tax... bottom line, etc??

I have an Orange Deluxe in Columbus, Indiana.

I was in Bloomington last night (killing time before a rockin' Guided By Voices show) and wandered into Staples there. They too had the graphite and blue Deluxes.

Visor: $179.98
Visor Deluxe: $249.98

No SpringBoards or other accessories yet, and the clerk I talked to was more interested in talking about his illegal CD bootlegging business than, oh, say, helping a customer with questions.

And, I was just thinking, if you're REALLY cost-conscious (read: penny-pincher), it's still cheaper to order the Visor Deluxe tax-free plus standard or even express shipping from Handspring than to pay 5% sales tax in-store.

Unless you are in California, which means ordering from Handspring directly costs you both tax (8.25%) AND shipping charges. This is when I run to the local store to actually save money.

I live in CA now, but am moving to Muncie, Indiana to go back to school at Ball State and I am a Visor Deluxe owner.

A friend of mine ordered a Vdx from HS about two weeks ago and he had to pay 5% Indiana sales tax.

IndyBvd:

That could not be true because Handspring only charge state tax for shipping to MA, CA, TX, WV & KY. If your friend was really charged, then an error was made and your firend is entitled to a refund.

I'm in Indy and have a BVD. It's become a life necessity!

Anyone know if there are any Palm (or Visor :cool User Groups that meet in the state?

I too would be interested in a user's group in the Indy area.

I got my BVD the same day (or near the same day) as IndyBVD too! And at Staples! I would be interested in a Visor User Group in Indy as well.

Cool

I will check with the Indiana Computer Society and with the Apple Group to see if either of them have a special interest group for Palm PDAs. I'll report back under a new topic specifically labeled for Indiana Visorpeople.

Noticed there have been a lot of Indiana folks responding to the posting about visor-popular states. We're obviously a cutting-edge place!

Cool

I was at Best Buy yesterday to get a gift for my wife, so I checked on the visors. I wanted to see the orange and green ones, I have a blue one.
But they really didn't know what they were selling.
I had to tell some guy there why he should buy a visor instead of a palm. I pulled out mine to show him.

I was in CompUSA last night. They have the VDx, BVD, IVD, and VS in stock. They don't have any SB's yet. The sales guy said that the units came with deluxe styli! I noticed that the Visor display showed that they would have the Eyemodule in the store, as well as the Backup, Flash, and Tiger Woods modules. They still wouldn't pull out a Palm/Stowaway keyboard for me to see.
