Thumbs up

Thanks for nothing. Now you've made me ever more confused!

Just kidding... this was a great and very honest review. As a Palm V (8mb upgraded) owner, I have been waiting to hear some honest opinions, and more importantly, how it compares to the V.

One thing I would like to know a bit more about is the display. Without having even seen the screen, I am already convinced it suffers from the "grid" problem that the Palm IIIc had. It's already being talked about on comp.sys.palmtops.pilot.

I can see how it would not be an issue when viewing photos, but with the default white bg, I can definitely see this as an issue.

Have you tried using Chrome (http://www.twinkletwinkle.com) to try for a black background and white text to see if this grid effect goes away, or becomes less distracting? I would also be curious to see if this increases battery life any.

Thanks again for the great review. I need about 5 more reviews before I can decide if I'm going to retire my trusty Palm V.

Arrow Grid Pattern

The grid pattern is what is holding me back from getting the Prism. I have been playing with one and find it difficult to read on it because of the grid... Everything else looks good though. I suspect that a black background with white text would fix this particular issue.
