Lightbulb

If it makes you feel any better, I've started having the same problem. I have no idea what's up.

Sometimes, closing and launching the software again helps. Often, a PC reboot is necessary.

You may ever need to do a soft reset of the Visor.

I think the hotsync's can be flaky, but I've always managed to get it to work after a couple of tries.

I've kinda had the same problem myself, actually...

I have a serial cradle hooked up to my PC, and I place my GVD in there, press the button on the cradle, and my Visor says "Connecting with the desktop" and then it pops up the error message about "the connection between your handheld computer and the desktop could not be established." I took it to a computer tech and he said it was the cradle or the Visor because my Serial port is fine....

I've tried restarting my computer, doing a soft reset to the visor, replaced the Visor's batteries... Nothing works!!!1

There goes my AvantGo...

Anyone have any ideas?

There have been several reports about serial cradles going bad. Try contacting Handspring for a replacement.
