-- Compact Flash Adapter Question (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=12652)
If the SmartMedia MemPlug can allow you to vies movies and pictures that resides on the module, why can't the compact flash adapter do the same? And it pictures and movies can be viewed from the module, why can't other things such as EBooks?
From what I have read, CF or SmartMedia looks like a hardrive to the Palm OS. The current Palm OS was not written to be able to read from something like a Smartmedia and CF since these devices might not have existed at that time. Hopefully future updates will. Some read only databases can be read from the Handspring 8MB module, but not all. I have an Ebook program (Peanut Reader) and it will not read the book on my CF. I suspect that the reader program is also looking at the Palm (in my case Visor) RAM. Since the book isn't there you can't read it. When I copy it from CF to my Visor it is available. I have 5 translations of the Bible in CF, but like my Peanut Reader application, My Bible see only what books are on the Visors RAM. Copying files back and forth between Visor and CF isn't a problem for me since at least I have everything on my Visor that I want. Until Handspring increased the RAM on a future Visor this is the only inexpensive solution for us Palm power users.

Huh?
Correct me if I am wrong. But doesn't the TRGPro's solution actually move the file from the card to the Visor's RAM? Wouldn't this be different from the smart media solution of viewing the jpeg file while they are still residing on the smart media card?
