Cool

I have ordered a BVD recently, and am new to PDA's. I am wondering if it would be better to buy WriteRites or get a new stylus to keep from scratching the screen. Also, is there anything else I should need for when my visor arrives?

I would start with the screen protectors, They will protect the screen while a new stylus may well scratch the dickens out of the screen anyway.

Ditto Spice's comment. Scratches are often caused by dirt or some other foreign object getting between the stylus point and the screen. Screen protection is a must.

I bought a Classic Duo Cross Pen stylus and ball point and started using it from day one. After more than a month I have nary a scratch. I have no other protection. The Cross Pen Stylus is also much easier to use than the skinny styli. It makes writing more natural and faster. I keep the default stylus in its holder only for potential emergencies.

I also have a soft sable brush I use for cleaning dust off camera lenses. It helps to use it occassionally.

Screen protectors and a better styli won't put you back too far. The protectors will also help to protect the screen from things other than scratchy styli. Consider what kind of case will work best for you. I find that I don't use the slip cover at all, and rarely use the snap cover. I made myself a pigskin(with foam padding inside)flip style cover and use it 75% of the time. If you want a "planner" to carry your Visor in check out the Franklin/Covey Palm organizers.
I tried one out and my Visor slid right in.
I would get one but I already have a propex sport binder from them thats less that a year old. When I want to have paper (how medival)I slip the Visor into it with the snap cover on. Works OK. Good luck!

I bought a Palm replacement stylus and have been using it for a couple of weeks without any scratches. (A friend has been using a Palm IIIe heavily for several months with one of the heavy Palm styli and has no scratches. I bought a Rhinopak 2000 which has a handy pocket to keep the stylus in, so I have never really missed being able to slip the stylus in and out of the slot.

Cool

If you want a primo screen protector, go to a fabric store and purchase a small piece of sheet vinyl, then go to http://www.geocities.com/SiliconVal...4/screenpr.html for the method of cutting and applying it.

I'd also get about 4 Duracell AAA ultra batteries, or 4 NiMH rechargables and a recharger. (Radio Shack has tiny rechargers that hold 4 batteries and plug into the wall for about $25, under $40 total with 4 batteries)

I'd also shop around for a padded case, if you are afraid of dropping your Visor. The screen is glass and it will break. There is a wide selection available at http://www.palmgear.com
The Accessories discussion has several topics on the pros and cons of various cases.
