Angry

I am having serious difficulties when I am syncing. The PC recognizes my User, then goes on to Sync my data. This is where it quits. It tells me

"HotSync operation started 10/21/00 19:50:22
HotSync Error:
An application failed to respond to a
HotSync notification. Please check the Palm Desktop for details. (8009)"

I have tried reinstalling Palm Desktop, (soft) restarting my VD, and starting completely over (on the PC). It doesn't work... I consider myself pretty tech literate, so if anyone has a clue as to what I should do, do not be afraid to go into tech details. (FYI: My dad and I both have a Visor Deluxe that we both sync on one computer. I also sync to a seperate computer, and I am not experiencing any troubles with that one. I had been syncing with the same 3rd party software for about 4 weeks and had not had any problems. In other words I have not installed anything new for the last 4 weeks, and it synced fine till now. I have been using DBK4 for about 4 months, and have not had any problems.) I find no helpful info when I go into the Palm Desktop, so I have no idea what is going on.
Thanks for your time!
Spencer

Try a soft reset on the Visor and then sync. Sometimes this is enough to solve many unexplainable sync errors...

If that doesn't help, look in the hotsync log. Often there'll be a better description of the problem.

Joe, another tip is since your Dad is synching to the same computer apparently with no problems - check the two units and determine if/what software you have that he doesn't. The previous tip from PDAENVY might point you in the right direction.

If you have installed some software different from your Dad's then start deleting programs from your machine that might be causing the problem. Your Palm/User/Backup directory will or should have these programs on the desktop. You can always make a backup on your desktop somewhere and restore at a later time.

Also, if you have shareware on your Visor that has expired this might cause a sync problem as well.
