Apple's new mystery product

For the Mac geeks out there:

It doesn't really say anything in particular, but it gives us something to look forward too...

I'm glad Apple is expanding their product line, I've often thought they would benefit a great deal by applying their computer design skills to other products. It doesn't sound like it will be a PDA though, too bad.

Rumor has it that it's an MP3 player.

That connects to your stereo and your computer. Hopefully with Airport or firewire.

I have heard many rumors that it's going to be an MP3. This is coming from people inside the tech market.

Of all the things they could be developing, an MP3 player seems to be the least exciting product.

Maybe this is the start of something bigger though. With their stores, perhaps they are pushing into more consumer product devices ala Sony...that'd be exciting.

Lightbulb

What I want is something that plugs into our (cheap) stereo and uses Airport to talk to my Mac. I can then select songs to play off my Mac which are then played through my Home stereo's speakers.

Better yet, add Quicktime functionality so that I can view trailers etc on the television. That would be awesome to watch movie trailers etc on my 51" TV!

All will be revealed Tuesday.

Hmm...if it's real, then THAT'S my next PDA.

However, it seems incredibly small for the the feature set the rumor page is claiming to have. It has a modem + Airport card in the size of a flattened cigarrete package?

Well, we'll see...

Thumbs down

LOL! That's obviously a Photoshop job of a scanner made to look like...well, whatever the hell it's supposed to look like. And Apple would never give a product such as stupid name as "iWalk".

And what's with the DELL coctail napkin under the pack of cigs?

hehe...I totally missed the bullet points:

TFT-Display (512x256 resolution, 65k colors)
memory of 128 MB for low-end-version, 256 MB high-end
one firewire IEE 1394 FireWire-port
one 56k MoDem
OS X (scaled-down "newtonlike"-version)
LiIon-battery (20 h / approx. 9 days standby)

Some of these are plausible, but the resolution + memory are just ridiculous!

Apple introduces iPod, a digital audio player (MP3, MP2, more) with a 5GB hard drive (1000 songs). 20 minute skip protection. FireWire-equipped, first such music player. 10 hour battery, lithium-polymar ("most advanced battery; more advanced than laptop batteries"), takes 1 hour to charge. Size of a deck of cards: 2.4" wide, 4" tall, 3/4" thick.[13:25-13:30]

So it's a big-storage MP3 player. Cool. good...

Uh, read the dimensions...it's only the size of a deck of cards!
