-- Help - Unable to delete an installed program (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=9300)
i installed hmaki.prc (some kind of solitaire game), but it did not install smoothly. I now have an icon that looks like a barcode, and when you try to launch it it causes a fatal error. Have tried several methods to delete the program, but it **will not** allow me to delete it. Any suggestions? Have already done a soft reset, and if I do a hard reset and resync, am assuming that the program will still be there. any help appreciated.

Assuming you are deleting file through the Applications delete option what you might look for is another database file with a verysimilar name to the prc file.
If you do a hard reset you will delete all of the none original software added to the Visor. Look for this other database file and if you don't find something then you might want to try installing another Launcher type program that would help you delete errant files.
I'd recomend Launch'em but don't go out and buy it until your certain you can't delete the problem.
Hope this helps.

Try ZCatalog or PZ or DBExplorer
Does it just refuse to delete or does your Visor crash each time...I once installed a game which destroyed my ability to delete ANYTHING and beam...had to hard reset and restore (be careful to have BackupBuddy, or have all the backup bits switched to on with use of BackupBits or BackupAll, and a sync of course). If the program just refuses to delete, like what happened with me and the Handspring OS patch, just try ZCatalog or PZ or DBExplorer...be careful not to delete important data, though...it's very easy to do with this type of software.
For a file that refuses to be deleted: Try a soft reset and then try the delete again. If that does not work try a firm reset (pressing and releasing the reset button while holding the up-arrow key), then try to delete the file, and then follow by a soft reset.
Like Goyena says, ZCatalog is a good tool for deleting extraneous files. Believe it or not, so is FileMover from any Flash module.
